Do I Need a Solicitor for My Claim?
For the vehicle side, usually not. For an injury claim, usually yes. Here is the honest distinction.
For vehicle damage, hire, storage and recovery, usually not. An accident management company handles those, and we do it at no cost to you.
For a personal injury claim, usually yes. Injury claims involve medical evidence and legal valuation, and that is solicitor territory.
What we handle without a solicitor
Vehicle damage
Repair or write-off value, pursued from the at-fault insurer.
Replacement vehicle
Arranged and the cost recovered.
Recovery and storage
Arranged and recovered.
Your excess
Reclaimed as part of the claim.
When you do want a solicitor
If you were injured. Valuing an injury requires medical evidence and a proper understanding of what comparable cases settle at, and getting it wrong costs you.
If liability is seriously disputed and heading towards proceedings. If the injuries are severe or lasting. Or if there are complications - a fatality, a child, or a claim involving an uninsured or untraced driver.
We do not handle injury claims and we receive no money from them. If you have been injured we can put you in touch with a firm of solicitors who act for you, and you are free to use anyone you wish or nobody at all. It makes no difference to the service we provide.
Not sure which you need?
Tell us what happened and we will give you an honest answer, including if the answer is that you do not need us.
Common questions
Most injury claims are run on a no-win-no-fee basis, with a success fee deducted from your compensation if you win. The solicitor will explain their terms before you instruct them.
You can, and for a simple vehicle-only claim with liability admitted some people do. It becomes much harder where liability is disputed or an injury is involved.
No. We receive no payment, referral fee or commission of any kind in connection with your injury claim.
Absolutely. You are free to use any firm you wish, or none.
Not usually. The vehicle side runs alongside, and injury claims take longer mainly because of medical evidence rather than who is handling them.
Terms and conditions apply to all services described on this page. Free recovery, storage and replacement vehicles are provided on the basis that the charges are recovered from the at-fault party’s insurer. We will explain the terms in plain English before anything is arranged.
Before we act for you we are required to verify your identity and to carry out fraud and anti-money laundering checks. This may include checks with credit reference and fraud prevention agencies, which will leave a record on your file.
Where fraud is suspected, information may be shared with fraud prevention agencies, insurers and law enforcement. Providing false or misleading information in support of a claim may mean your claim is refused, and can be a criminal offence.
